Using a Payment Demand (“Påkrav”) as an Enforcement Basis in Kredin
In some cases, there is no existing enforceable basis for collection — for example, when there is no standard invoice, contract, or other written payment obligation.
In such situations, a payment demand (påkrav) can be used to establish a valid enforcement basis, allowing the claim to be collected under the Norwegian Enforcement Act once the payment demand has fallen due.
What is a Payment Demand?
A påkrav is a written demand for payment in which the creditor clearly states:
- what amount is owed
- why the claim exists
- which payment deadline applies
If the debtor does not dispute the claim within the given deadline, the payment demand is considered undisputed, and can be used as an enforcement basis for legal collection (attachments, bankruptcy petitions, or conciliation board claims).
Example of a Payment Demand
Payment Demand – Claim for Refund of Credit Note
We refer to credit note no. [xxx], dated [date], issued by you, where the amount of NOK [amount] has still not been refunded.
The credit note constitutes an undisputed monetary claim and should have been refunded without undue delay. We hereby request that the amount be paid within 14 days from receipt of this notice.
If payment is not made within the deadline, collection of the claim will be initiated without further notice.

How to Register a Payment Demand in Kredin
You can create a case based on a payment demand by using the Invoice/claim claim type, even if no standard invoice exists.
- Go to + Start new case
- Choose whether the claim is against a private individual or a company
- Add the customer information
- Select the claim type Invoice/claim
- In the Invoice number field, enter a free-text reference, e.g.:
“Payment demand dated 01.12.2025 regarding missing refund of credit note 12345” - Enter the principal amount, due date of the payment demand, and other details as normal
When the payment demand falls due without objections, you have a standard claim that can proceed through the full process in Kredin. For enforcement steps (attachment, bankruptcy, or conciliation board filing), the payment demand must be attached as the enforcement basis.
If the Debtor Disputes the Claim
If the debtor provides objections (a dispute), follow the same procedure as for any other disputed claim:
